Tour update and thanks!

I’m writing this from the van on the way to Saint Louis. Don’t worry I’m not driving! We’re over halfway thru the tour with Rosi Golan and Peter Bradley Adams. Chip Johnson from The Alternate Routes has been joining me on bass and vocals for some of these out of town shows. I’ve incorporated a few songs from the new record into the set as well: “Lose You Now”, “We Go Together”, “Still Be There” and “Angeline”.

What an incredible hometown show at Jammin’ Java on Thursday! I wish we could do that every night! We’ve had some cool shows on the tour so far but nothing compares with the energy of the hometown crowd. I loved having Todd Wright and Jess Bennett back in stage with me. I haven’t felt that fulfilled and satisfied after a show in a long time. Lately I’ve been trying to just be myself more on stage - honest, vulnerabilities, “imperfections” and all. There’s nothing like the feeling of doing your job and coming away thinking “this is what I do and I just kicked butt doing it” you know?

There was a video crew there filming so we’ll have some footage for you soon. I see some fan videos have already been uploaded to YouTube.

The next big local show is a headlining CD Release show at The Barns at Wolf Trap April 22! This will sell out!! Get tickets now at wolftrap.org.

I’m going to spend the rest of the month and January writing and recording the new record. We’re also booking a series of house concerts so please consider hosting one. More about them here or email Barbara.

We’ve got a few more shows coming up on this tour so check out the shows page for details and please spread the word! Shows in Cincinatti, St Louis, Lousville, KY this week.

I’ve started a little blog about noteworthy road food from the perspective of a touring musician over at what-exit.com. Enjoy!

Peace!

Luke.

Hometown show this week and nice article in Northern Virginia Magazine

The last hometown show for 2009 is this Thursday at Jammin’ Java. It’s part of a two week tour I’m doing with the great Peter Bradley Adams and Rosi Golan. The shows have been going soooo good and I’m excited to bring it to my home base this week. Let’s pack the place! Get tickets here.

Also shows coming up in Philly, Hoboken, Easton, MD, Pittsburgh, Cleveland and more. Check the dates here.

If you’re in Northern Virginia check out the new issue of Northern Virginia Magazine for a cool article / interview about what we’re doing to raise money for the new record.

House concerts!

We’re booking a bunch of house concerts for Dec/Jan/Feb. You should have one! They are easy, free and always fun. More info here: http://lukebrindley.com/house.html

“Keep Me in Your Heart”

Here’s a free download for today. It’s called “Keep Me in Your Heart” ~ I hadn’t been playing for a while but was reminded of it when I had some requests to play it at shows. It’s from the self-titled record that came out two years ago. I remember writing most of it on one sitting one night when the power went out.

Enjoy and please spread the word!

Should I be concerned?

Only in NJ is a truck bearing these warnings parked outside the studio.

My version of Bob Dylan’s “Love Minus Zero/No Limit”

I had been playing my own version of this song for a while and finally recorded it on my last full length record. The guitar is tuned to Open C (CGCGCE) Capo II.

Enjoy and please spread the word!

After the storm

I took this this morning in Ocean Grove, NJ looking toward Asbury Park. The morning after incredible wind and rain. The boardwalk was covered in sand like snow.

Happy Monday ~ here’s “Dervish”

This one’s been a fan favorite for a while. It’s an instrumental inspired by the sound of some Arabic music my friend jc morrison gave to me in nyc. Specifically the music of Simon Shaheen and VM Bhatt.

The middle part is improvised which makes it a lot of fun for me to play live.

Enjoy and please spread the word!
